Code of Conduct

Player Code of Conduct

This is a player-written code of conduct to serve as a reminder to players what sort of behavior is expected of them. They're pretty much common sense, but we need to hold each other accountable to them to make the game run a bit smoother.

1. Do not meta-game.

Meta-gaming is cheating. It is unfair to the other players if your character possesses player knowledge that they cannot reasonably know in-character. This includes use of disciplines, character backstory, etc. For example, you cannot simply "know" that a character is Obfuscated in the scene without making a roll to see them.

This is largely a gray area when it comes to LARPing, sometimes subtle meta-gaming is unavoidable. However, blatant meta-gaming will not be tolerated. If you can't even negotiate how a character would "just know" something, even with a few rolls, then the STs do not have the responsibility to cooperate with you and your action will be retconned.

2. Be respectful of Staff members.

Storytellers work hard to create scenarios and plot that are exciting and fun. Roleplaying is about collaboration. When an ST gives you a scenario, it is reasonable to expect the player to give their most sincere cooperation.

It is understandable when a player wishes to negotiate or request some clarity on established rules, be they House rules or rules stated in the books. However, challenging and arguing with the STs is unnecessary.

3. Contribute to everyone else's fun and not just your own.

Roleplaying is a collaborative effort and it only really works if everyone is working together, not just in the game but outside of it as well. Our pride, vanities, and personal fantasies need to be set aside so we can tell a good story together and have a good time doing it.

Yes, this is a game about a bunch of backstabbing vampires. Yes, this tends to make emotions run high. However, we are also all adults, and we need to remember that we come here two Saturdays a month with one goal in mind: To have fun.
